CAIRIS-web

CAIRIS (Computer Aided Integration of Requirements and Information Security) is a Requirements Management tool for specifying secure and usable systems. CAIRIS was built from the ground-up to support the elements necessary for usability, requirements, and risk analysis. CAIRIS features include:

  • Support for KAOS goal and obstacle modelling, and traceability between goal, requirements, security, and usability model elements.
  • Support for entering and managing usability data, such as personas, tasks, and use cases
  • Support for entering and managing risk analysis data.
  • Support for specifying attack patterns to reason about potential attacks.
  • The ability to import architectural patterns to automatically derive attack surface metrics based on them.
  • Automatic visualisation of models, and quantitative/quantative scoring of security and usability data
  • Automatic document generation of a VOLERE compliant requirements specification.

CAIRIS-web is a fork of the original CAIRIS. CAIRIS-web separates the business layers from the UI and provides easy access by providing a HTML based UI. It also provides a RESTful API which can be used by other applications.

Getting Started

The client side version of CAIRIS-web relies on HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery 2. Any browser which supports these technologies should be able to run the web UI.

The application server of CAIRIS-web should be able to run on most flavours of Linux. There are however some dependencies that need to be installed in order to get CAIRIS-web running:

  • dblatex (0.3 or higher)
  • DocBook (4.5 or higher)
  • GraphViz (2.20 or higher)
  • MySQL Server and Client (5.1 or higher)
  • Python (2.6 or higher)

Besides the application dependencies, there are also some Python extensions that are required:

  • Flask
  • Flask-RESTful
  • Flask-RESTful-swagger
  • Flask-CORS
  • jsonpickle
  • Mako
  • python-numpy
  • python-mysqldb
  • pyparsing 1.5.7
  • pydot

To run the desktop version of CAIRIS within this repository, you will also have to install the original GTK and Glade dependencies:

OS:

  • python-wxglade
  • python-glade2
  • python-wxgtk2.8

A full step-by-step installation guide will be available soon. Please consult the installation guide of the original CAIRIS for the time being.
