Ultra simple and useless geoip service... this time in python

• Install the bottle microframework

    $ sudo pip install bottle
  

• Install the GeoIP python api

    $ wget http://www.maxmind.com/download/geoip/api/python/GeoIP-Python-1.2.4.tar.gz
    $ tar xvzf GeoIP-Python-1.2.4.tar.gz && cd GeoIP-Python-1.2.4
    $ python setup.py build && sudo setup.py install
  

• Install the MaxMind-s GeoIP database

    $ cd data && wget http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoLiteCity.dat.gz
    $ gunzip GeoLiteCity.dat.gz && cd ..
  

• Start the server: python localize/app.py

You can test it with a browser or with curl

$ curl -i http://localhost:8080/74.125.230.223

The server will response a 200 with a json

In case the given IP does not find a localization, the server will response a 404
