Cross-platform package management
From this directory:
sudo python setup.py install
As an example, you can install octave by running
xylem install octave
On systems such as Ubuntu where root access is required to install, you will be prompted to enter your password. On others such as Homebrew on Mac OS X, the installation will proceed without a password.
