hackrf_ma_twarz

I am not responsible for using this code to break any local and/or international laws. Use at your own risk. This script finds the local Radio Maryja frequency and broadcasts a chosen wave file or youtube audio on it. Supports only Polish FM radio frequencies (for now)

what do you need for this:

  • Great Scott Gadgets HackRF One
  • decent SMA connector UHF antenna (for just checking this out on a low range recommended examples are GSG ANT500 or Diamond SRH789)
  • Raspberry Pi with raspbian (included in NOOBs) OR a computer with ubuntu or derivatives (mint, kali, etc)

optionally: (this section needs expanding)

  • RF amplifier which works with UHF and accepts weak input signal
  • HUGE UHF antenna
  • cables and other accessories for above

how to install on ubuntu or mint or raspbian:

  • open terminal and type these commands:
  • sudo apt install git

  • git clone https://github.com/freakyvicky89/hackrf_ma_twarz.git

  • cd hackrf_ma_twarz

  • chmod +x install_deps_ubuntu.sh

  • ./install_deps_ubuntu.sh

  • you will be prompted for your password

how to run (assuming you followed installation instructions to the letter):

  • open terminal and type:
  • cd hackrf_ma_twarz

  • python hackrf_ma_twarz.py [what]

  • where [what] = youtube video id (open a youtube video and look at the address bar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v= this part ) OR filename of wave file in the hackrf_ma_twarz directory (without .wav extension)
  • example:
  • python hackrf_ma_twarz.py xC10076Ix1k

  • follow the instructions on the screen when they appear
  • you can choose from the provided cache of all the possible frequencies, or to let the script scan them checking which ones actually contain radio maryja in your area
  • the first scan takes about 18 minutes, but the script will store the results for you: if you run it in the same place again it will start transmission in no time at all

how to update the script

  • open terminal and type:
  • cd hackrf_ma_twarz

  • git pull
