Anonymine is a curses mode (text based) minesweeper that checks if the fields
actually are solvable without guessing and has a few other features.

Apart from being solvable without guessing, Anonymine has a few other features:
    - Three different field types
        - von Neumann (4 neighbors)
        - hexagonal (6 neighbors)
        - traditional (8 neighbors)
    - There's a highscores table for the losers too.
    - The anonymine_solver module can also be used to "measure the difficulty"
      of a field.

You can also try it over SSH as play@anonymine-demo.oskog97.com port 2222.

Software & hardware requirements
================================

    Required software
        - Python 2.6, 2.7 or 3.x
        - The "curses" module (Python)
        - The "argparse" module (Python) or a unix-like operating system [*1,2]

    *1 The argparse module is needed for Anonymine to take commandline options.
    The configuration files can be specified with the -e and -c command line
    options to override the default locations which happen to be unix paths.

    *2 Note that Python 2.6, 3.0 and 3.1 are not expected to have the
    module "argparse".

    Software recommendations
        - unix-like operating system or compatibility layer. fork(2) is
          required for utilizing multiple CPU cores.
        - The less(1) pager, for displaying the highscores table.
        - PyPy (It's faster than CPython, the more common Python interpreter.)

    Hardware requirements
        - Fast CPU and fast RAM (Multiple cores can be used by Anonymine.)
        - Fan for cooling the CPU
        - Disk:
            - 2 MB for tarball downloads
            - 8 MB for git clones
        - RAM usage:
            - Less than 16 MiB plus 24 MiB per logical CPU (core) for CPython
            - Less than 96 MiB plus 128 MiB per logical CPU (core) for PyPy

Tested platforms
================

    Python version
    ==============

        2.6 has been tested, but that was a long time ago. Anonymine version
        0.2.30 should work fine.

        Python 2.7 and 3.x are both being actively tested, there should not be
        any issues whatsoever.

        It works with both CPython and PyPy. PyPy3 is being actively tested.

    Operating system
    ================

        unix-like
        ---------

            Should work flawlessly on most GNU(/Linux) distributions.

            MacOS needs more testing. Especially to make sure the installation
            goes smoothly.

            Previous versions have been tested to work on various GNU/Linux
            distributions, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, DragonflyBSD, Minix 3
            and OpenIndiana.

            It also runs on Haiku. It does not install, read INSTALL.Haiku.

        Windows
        -------

            Versions before 0.5.6 will not work on Windows, but newer versions
            do provided that you have installed windows-curses from PyPI. This
            probably only works with CPython. Initializing minefields take
            longer as there is no `os.fork`.

            0.5.6 does not have an automatic installer, read the instructions
            in INSTALL.Windows.txt.

            There is also a version that runs on Cygwin avaiable on
            <https://gitlab.com/oskog97/anonymine-windows>.  It's faster but
            takes a while to install and Cygwin takes up half a gigabyte of
            storage. It also has a few issues with shortcuts and installing
            for all users.

Goals
=====

    Version Change
    ------- ------
    0.2 Performance improvements, no nasty calibration of enginecfg
    0.3     High-scores
    0.4 Meta file clean ups (eg. README)
    0.5     Mouse support
    0.6 Windows installer that is not a PITA
