to create a new pattern use one of the existing ones and copy it as a blue-print.
all files in the pattern/
sub-folder that have a subclass of the Pattern class defined
will be considered.
in this class there is a function called _calculate_step
- these will be called for every universe once every update_interval
round.
it has to return a array.array('B')
array with the values to write to ola.
