metaknowledge is a Python3 library that simplifies bibliometric research using Web of Science data. It reads a directory of plain text files containing meta-data on publications and citations, and writes to a variety of data structures that are suitable for quantitative, network, and text analyses. It handles large datasets (e.g. several million records) efficiently.
The website can be found at networkslab.org/metaknowledge.
Currently mk is at version 1 and is considered stable. Version 2 is currently being worked on in the pubmed
branch. Version 2 will add support for other sources of records (pubmed is the main target) as well as better tools for dealing with grants. Versions 2 is not compatible with version 1 code, R.TI
becomes R['TI']
or R.get('TI')
is the most obvious change.
If you have concerns or wish to influence the development now is a very good time to do so. If you wish to just open a new issues with your comments.
