** This is GalDynPsr to be run with python2, if you are using python3, please download and install GalDynPsr3.

You need to run GalDynPsr.py as

> python GalDynPsr.py

1) It will ask whether the pulsar in any globular cluster or not. If yes, then reads parameters from Harris catalogue (GC_harris.txt).

2a) If not, you need to give b, l, d (with errors).

2b) Remember this option can be chosen even for cluster pulsars, if you want to do error analysis.

3) The code will then ask you to choose a combination out of different options like A, B, C, D,

Model-A: apl_old/c (i.e. b0 = 0; DT91) and Z_NT95
Model-B: apl_old/c (i.e. b0 = 0; DT91) and Z_HF04
Model-C: apl_new/c (i.e. dv/dR = -0.2; Reid2014) and Z_NT95
Model-D: apl_new/c (i.e. dv/dR = -0.2; Reid2014) and Z_HF04

Model-Ea: apl_old/c (i.e. b0 = 0; DT91) and ‘zforce’ in galpy (without BH)
Model-Eb: apl_old/c (i.e. b0 = 0; DT91) and ‘zforce’ in galpy (with BH)

Model-Fa: apl_new/c (i.e. dv/dR = -0.2; Reid2014) and ‘zforce’ in galpy (without BH)
Model-Fb: apl_new/c (i.e. dv/dR = -0.2; Reid2014) and ‘zforce’ in galpy (with BH)

Model-Ga: Using Vp'/Vs from galpy (without BH) and Z_NT95
Model-Gb: Using Vp'/Vs from galpy (with BH) and Z_NT95

Model-Ha: ‘Rforce’ in galpy (without BH) and Z_NT95
Model-Hb: ‘Rforce’ in galpy (with BH) and Z_NT95

Model-Ia: Using Vp'/Vs from galpy (without BH) and Z_HF04
Model-Ib: Using Vp'/Vs from galpy (with BH) and Z_HF04

Model-Ja: ‘Rforce’ in galpy (without BH) and Z_HF04
Model-Jb: ‘Rforce’ in galpy (with BH) and Z_HF04

Model-Ka: Using Vp'/Vs from galpy (without BH) and ‘zforce’ in galpy (without BH)
Model-Kb: Using Vp'/Vs from galpy (with BH) and ‘zforce’ in galpy (with BH)

Model-La: ‘Rforce’ in galpy (without BH) and ‘zforce’ in galpy (without BH)
Model-Lb: ‘Rforce’ in galpy (with BH) and ‘zforce’ in galpy (with BH)

4) After choosing the option, the code will return Excess terms due to parallel and perpendicular (to the Galactic plane) acceleration.

5) The code will then ask you whether you want to evaluate the Shklovskii term in case you know proper motion.

6) Afterwards, the code asks whether you want to get the intrinsic spin and orbital period derivatives, in case you know the observed period derivatives and the periods.

7) Please see example.png for the screenshot of an example run of the code.

8) parameters.py file contains values of different constants, as well as the values of different parameters as:
Vs, sigVs (error in Vs), Rskpc (Rs in kpc units), sigRs (error in Rskpc), b0reid14 (dv/dR), sigb0r (error in dv/dR), b0dt91 (slope parameter), sigb0dt (error in slope parameter)

Description of different codes:

parameters.py: contains parameters (constants) used in the package

GC_harris.txt: Contains l, b, d for globular clusters from Harris catalogue

Main.py: main program. If the pulsar is not in a GC, it calls ExcessGalfunc() from ExcessGal.py

If the pulsar is in GC, it calls readGCfunc(), gcinp(), and GCrepeat() from ReadGC.py

ReadGC.py:

 readGCfunc(): reads the Harris catalogue

gcinp(): checks for GC name in the Harris catalogue with user input. Calculates ap_pl/c, az/c y calling allcal() of AllCal.py

GCrepeat(): Repeats input if wrong GC name entered.

ExcessGal.py: Calculates ap_pl/c, az/c by calling allcal() of AllCal.py

AllCal.py: Calculates ap_pl/c with the help of Excesspl.py. Calculates az/c by calling ExcessZ.py

ExcessZ.py: Calculates az/c, both Nice-Taylor (1995) expression as well as our fit of HF2004
