The Access Grid Toolkit (AGTk) 2010-08-19 http://www.mcs.anl.gov/fl/research/accessgrid The Access Grid Project http://www.accessgrid.org/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OVERVIEW OF THE ACCESS GRID TOOLKIT The Access Grid Toolkit (AGTk) provides users, developers, and service providers with the software components required to explore next generation collaborative environments. Please review the license on the software found in the file COPYING.txt. . For Users Users of the Access Grid seeking to collaborate can share audio, video and text with the basic toolkit. The experience is much like traditional videoconferencing except that it's multipoint, multistream video, with hands-free, echo-free, full-duplex audio. Additionally, the basic AGTk provides data sharing mechanisms for users to store data in the Virtual Venue, and to share applications using mechanisms provided by the Venue Server, including shared presentation viewing and shared web browsing. . For Developers Developers wishing to contribute to the Access Grid Project or the Access Grid Toolkit should get familiar with the source code and the tools, and then decide what part of the AGTk to work on. Developer documentation is available at http://www.accessgrid.org/developer. Information about past and ongoing projects is available at http://www.accessgrid.org/projects. Also, the ag-dev mailing list is a great place to discuss development work. Subscription information is online at http://www.accessgrid.org/mailinglists. . For Service Providers Individuals wishing to provide AGTk Services should first host some Virtual Venues through a Virtual Venue Server. OBTAINING THE TOOLKIT Download the latest snapshot of the toolkit from http://www.accessgrid.org/software SVN Access is available; information can be found at http://www.accessgrid.org/developer INSTALLATION Please see the INSTALL file for the appropriate platform and OS. BUG REPORTING Please report bugs using the Bugzilla interface found at http://bugzilla.mcs.anl.gov/accessgrid DOCUMENTATION In addition to the included documentation, more documentation can be found on the Access Grid web site: http://www.accessgrid.org/documentation MAILING LISTS There are several mailing lists for discussing various aspects of the AGTk. Information about these lists, including how to subscribe, can be found at http://www.accessgrid.org/mailinglists. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS We would like to acknowledge all of those who have helped make the AGTk by either providing requirements, reviewing documents, working on software, or providing operational support, training and enthusiasm since the beginning of the Access Grid Project in the Winter/Spring of 1998/1999.
