This data is sourced from GNS Science and its GeoNet programme. The data includes earthquakes, sensor readings and reports from people about how they experienced the quake.

GeoNet’s data is available for use free of charge. GNS Science does assert some restrictions though:

1. Users are requested to acknowledge the GeoNet project sponsors as the source of the data or images. (Suggested text: We acknowledge the New Zealand GeoNet project and its sponsors EQC, GNS Science and LINZ, for providing data/images used in this study.)
2. The GeoNet project sponsors accept no liability for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, resulting from the use of the data or images provided.
3. The GeoNet project sponsors do not make any representation in respect of the information’s accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose.
