This pet project is to use MovieLens dataset to recommend movies to users.

The data can be downloaded from https://grouplens.org/datasets/movielens/.

There are 5 python scripts inside and they are:

(1) recommender_system.py main recommendation scripts, determine the similar users and their most interested movies thus give recommendaation

(2) recommend.py implements the recommendation logic

(3) distance.py calculte the similarities (distances) between users

(4) input_file.py open files inside ml-100k for further processing

(5) nearestNeighbours.py calculate the most similar user to our target customer, can be used in the initial testing

(6) group_recommendation provide recommendation for group of people based on the importance of individual opinions
