Private project to add better symmetry usage in the GPAW code (https://wiki.fysik.dtu.dk/gpaw). Starting from svn 11325 (Update: rebased to svn 11542).
It looks as if it is not compatible with 'fd' mode, because 'fd' needs grids divisible by 4, but the gpaw initilization does not allow to set things in the order we need. It is pretty much the problem, that the symmetry part is a subclass of kpt_descriptor... not good for us.
IMPORTANT NOTES:

PW mode seems to work. Differences can occur low cut-off energies, but that is probably not a bug.

LCAO mode not tested

for the moment require PBC in all directions, for safety

fd mode doesn't work, because of gpaw initilization routine

dfpt and hybrid don't work because they need symmetrize_wavefunction

chi.py needs symmetrize_return_index, which is not implemented with fractional translations

restart won't work I assume, because we have to write stuff manually into the gpw file?
